The regional innovation platform Precend is organizing a technical study day aimed at the renewable energies sector. To be held at Polytech Nantes on the 4 March 2015, the day of lectures will impart the state of the art in the maintenance of both offshore and terrestrial wind turbines.

The renewable energy sector has complex infrastructure which has particular maintenance requirements. Targeted at sector professionals, the talks will address structural health monitoring (SHM) and non-destructive testing techniques (NDT) of wind turbines, and are open to all in the industry: manufacturers, operators, service providers, researchers, and students.

Leveraging expertise in the region

Several of the presentations will be dedicated to an overview of the inspection techniques needed to assure the integrity of the offshore and terrestrial turbines. Intelligent sensor networks, monitoring by drone, and ultrasound inspection, are among the latest innovations which will be thoroughly examined by the expert speakers.

It will also be the occasion to reflect on Precend’s activity since 2011, consider the future of the sector, and to network among the multitude of diverse talents present in the Pays de la Loire region.
